Bob Knorr

Bob Knorr is a self taught sculptor who started down the road to become sculptor of the sea in the late 80’s. On one of his many fishing trips to the Abaco’s in the Bahamas he was sitting on the stern of a friends boat who made gold jewelry. He gave Knorr a block of wax and said carve it into something. After some practice a fish emerged. Thus Abaco Fin Farm was born.

Bob Knorr continued to practice his wax carving while working full time as a Medical Technologist he took classes at The Maitland Art Center to learn the process of lost wax casting. Then Knorr started making wax originals and having them cast in bronze. The bronze pieces were only “cast and blast”,which means, sprus had to be cut off, lots of grinding ,welding the pieces together and finally the patinas . Over time Knorr learned how to master each of these steps so he could have complete control of his work. He also taught himself how to cut, shape and polish the stone bases.

Bob Knorr continued to strive for realistic poses and settings for his sculptures. He drew upon his long time diving and fishing experiences to capture the wonders of the sea.
